When it comes to networking, I always emphasize the importance of creating genuine relationships. It’s not just about making a connection but fostering mutual growth and collaboration. Recently, I experienced firsthand how powerful this approach can be through my introduction to Brea Woodson, a marketing expert and the owner of GRT Marketing.
This introduction came through one of my clients, and from the start, Brea and I hit it off. As we talked about our businesses, our ideal clients, and what truly lights us up, I mentioned how much I enjoy speaking engagements and teaching people about networking. That small but specific detail sparked something big.
Brea connected me with SCORE Las Vegas, and they quickly invited me to host a seminar for over 50 attendees. From that one event, I’ve already lined up multiple consultations and met professionals eager to elevate their networking skills. But the story doesn’t stop there.
Brea is now hosting a free marketing workshop, and I’m thrilled to share it with my contacts. Not only is this a valuable resource, but it’s also a chance for me to offer something meaningful to my network.
Additionally, Brea will be featured in The Business Book Challenge, and we’ve continued to exchange introductions and opportunities. She even featured me in her blog! Of course, I’m happy to return the favor because that’s what true networking is all about, giving as much as you receive.
This experience reinforced one of my biggest lessons in networking: Be specific in your asks. When you’re clear about what you need and what you offer, you create openings for people to help you and vice versa. Marketing professionals like Brea have always been incredible referral partners for me, but it’s the relationship and trust we’ve built that make all the difference.
What’s next for you? If you’re ready to take your networking to the next level, I’d love to chat. Let’s keep building, growing, and connecting—because opportunities are only one conversation away.
