Owning a small business can sometimes feel like being on an island. You’re juggling multiple responsibilities, showing up for your clients, managing your team, and trying to keep the passion alive, often with little time to step back and reflect.
In this week’s Let’s Talk Business, I sat down with my fellow BNI Champions chapter member, Dr. Cory Singer, a chiropractor who’s been running Singer Chiropractic Wellness Center in Southern California for over 11 years.
He shared something that hit home: as business owners, we rarely pause to celebrate our wins.
“We don’t have someone to celebrate the small stuff with,” Dr. Singer said. “We move on to the next challenge without taking a second to say, ‘Wow, that was awesome.’”
Why That Matters
Celebrating wins, big or small, is more than just a feel-good moment. It’s a strategic move to boost morale, motivation, and momentum. Without these moments of reflection, burnout creeps in, and the passion that started it all can begin to fade.
Dr. Singer pointed out that in his chiropractic practice, he intentionally makes space to acknowledge progress, not just with his clients, but within his team too. He ties this into the wellness mindset, creating an environment where growth and healing are both recognized and encouraged.
How You Can Celebrate Wins (Without Throwing a Party Every Day)
Here are a few simple ways to bring this into your own business:
- Start your meetings with wins. Whether it’s a new client, positive feedback, or finally setting up that system you’ve been putting off, acknowledge it.
- Track progress visually. A simple whiteboard or dashboard can make progress feel tangible.
- Create a “Brag File.” Keep a folder of emails, thank-you notes, or positive reviews to revisit on tough days.
- Celebrate team wins publicly. Even if you have a small team, publicly acknowledging someone’s effort goes a long way.
- Share it with your network. Just like this Let’s Talk Business series, telling others about your wins creates inspiration and momentum.
Dr. Singer’s reminder was clear: When you’re in it every day, it’s easy to forget how far you’ve come. But pausing to celebrate keeps your energy up, your team engaged, and your business aligned with your purpose.
